SHIPYARD operator Cammell Laird has moved its group headquarters into an office building adjacent to its famous waterfront site.
The firm is taking 4,500 sq ft at the Abbots Quay Business Park in Monks Quay, Birkenhead.
Smith & Sons, acting on behalf of the owner of the building, has let the property on a 10-year lease on full repairing and insuring terms.
The business park includes six standalone units situated along Wirral waterfront, offering a number of parking spaces set within a green, landscaped environment.
Other tenants include construction solicitors Kerrigans, marketing agency ICE and accountants The Priory Partnership.
Smith and Sons has acted as commercial property agent for the business park since its launch in 1999.
It has a combined total of 30,000 sq ft, across six detached buildings.
Peter Bowskill, senior partner at Smith & Sons said: “Abbots Quay is a fantastic business park that offers a great location and facilities.
“This letting brings one of Wirral’s premier businesses to Abbots Quay and offers a perfect position for the company with the shipyard just next door.”
Cammell Laird chief executive John Syvret added: “We have been looking for some time to set up our group headquarters and the location of this building, adjacent to the shipyard, is a logistically perfect position for us.”
The Cammell Laird name returned to Birkenhead at the end of last year, after an absence of seven years.
Mr Syvret bought the name from the receivers and used it to rename his existing firm, Northwestern Shiprepairers and Shipbuilders.
At the time of the change, he said: “Cammell Laird is an internationally recognised brand which carries tremendous goodwill.”
