Merseyside price comparison site aims to double in size

MERSEYSIDE entrepreneur Tony Evans is set to take on the big players in the price comparison sector as he embarks on an expansion drive.

The 26-year-old Huyton-born businessman only set up seeus2save.com last year, but it has already turned over £5m. He and his 100 staff are relocating to Deacons Park, in Kirkby, from Liverpool city centre and he aims to take on at least another 50 staff before August next year.

Mr Evans is investing £500,000 in the move to the 10,000 sq ft space at the business park. It is the biggest office letting in Knowsley so far this year.

Seeus2save.com specialises in offering price comparisons in insurance and utilities markets and claims to have saved its customers around £1.4m already this year.

In recent years, the price comparison market has been dominated by companies such as Chester-based moneysupermarket.com and comparethemarket.com

But seeus2save.com is embarking on an aggressive growth strategy which Mr Evans hopes will see turnover double over the next few years.

The firm claims to offer a greater range of services than its better-known rivals. As well as the usual web-based service, staff will talk customers through their options on the phone. It also operates a team of 50 commission-only sales people who visit homes across the UK armed with lap-tops.

Mr Evans told LDP Business: “We are bucking the trend and have grown significantly since launching.

“We have built a strong reputation locally and are now sending the message out nationally with teams of advisers showing people how to use our website.

“The fact is we have access to many of the smaller brokers, unlike the bigger more well-known price comparison websites, and can therefore offer better deals.

“We are a debt-free company with a current turnover of around £5m.

“Consumers are now more savvy when it comes to their buying choices and we are confident that our offer, which also enables the user to speak directly with an operator, will continue to stand out from the competition.”
