Dragon Richard Farleigh to speak at Liverpool Software City

MERSEYSIDE’S hi-tech firms will be under the spotlight tomorrow as two conferences take over the BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena.

Liverpool Software City will see rising stars in the technology sector pitching their ideas to a panel of investors – including former Dragons’ Den star Richard Farleigh.

He will be joined by Julie Meyer, who appeared as a “dragon” investor on the recent BBC series, Online Dragons’ Den.

Software City, now in its third year, aims to showcase the talent in Merseyside’s digital community to domestic and international investors. This year, it is set to attract delegates from Silicon Valley, Scandinavia and Asia.

Organiser Steve Smith said: “Despite the economic climate, the sector is thriving, and we are seeing more and more technology businesses relocating to the region as the strength of its support infrastructure is increasingly recognised globally.”

Video gaming conference Develop is being held alongside Software City and aims to attract the “brightest game developers from across the UK”.

Speakers will include Michael Denny, senior vice-president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios.
