Apprenticeship role has Vision

A TEENAGER from Liverpool has secured an Apprenticeship with the company responsible for the regeneration of the city.

Joseph Wainwright, from Orrell Park, is an event assistant within the marketing team at Liverpool Vision. The 19-year-old is now working towards an NVQ Level 3 in business administration.

Mr Wainwright, who recently left full-time education at Fazakerley High School, having completed his sixth form studies, will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of events for the city, including the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.

It was his involvement with arranging events for his band, The Temps, of which he is a member, which got him interested in a career in events and marketing.

He frequently took charge of booking gigs, dealing with promotion companies as well as organising and generating ticket sales for his band.

Mr Wainwright said: “I really feel that I am working towards something here and can achieve my full potential. I would encourage any young person to embark on an Apprenticeship, mainly because you gain the encouragement and support you need to exceed as well as gaining invaluable experience in a sector of your choice.”

Jim Gill, chief executive of Liverpool Vision, added: “Already, Joseph has proved to be a great addition to our team, and I hope we can assist with both his professional and personal development. I would encourage other companies to recruit an Apprentice as it can be rewarding for both the individual and the business.”

“I think the Daily Post’s Skills for the Future campaign is a really positive initiative. If it can actively encourage businesses to consider signing up an apprentice via the Apprenticeships initiative, it can only lead to more success stories like Joseph.”
