More than 30 head office employees of collapsed bookstore chain Borders have lost their jobs.
Joint administrators Phil Duffy, Geoff Bouchier and David Whitehouse of MCR, have announced that a total of 36 employees based at the London HQ have been made redundant.
Mr Duffy said: “Following our appointment as administrators we have undertaken a review of the company’s business and operations in the context of an administration and consequently identified a number of positions that have become redundant.
“This has resulted in the above employee redundancies being made.
“This in no way impacts the business at a store level and I can confirm that no redundancies have been made in-store,” he added.
On Saturday MCR announced closing down sales at all 45 retail outlets of book-store chain Borders (UK).
Mr Duffy added: “We are now pursuing parallel administration strategies – continuing to seek a purchaser for all or some of the company’s stores.”
