City region-wide jobs creation scheme passes 150 milestone

THE 150th person has been employed as part of a Future Jobs Fund which aims to find work for more than 2,500 long-term unemployed throughout the region.

The initiative was launched across the six local authorities after a successful bid by the Liverpool city region cabinet and city employment strategy Board.

The councils in the city region have worked to identify different types of jobs in a range of sectors, including apprenticeships, the health service and working with children and young people.

There are a further 100 organisations involved as employers, the majority of which are social enterprises, or in the voluntary or community sector.

In addition Furniture Resources Group and PSL Services have created jobs locally, funded through the Future Jobs Fund.

Cllr Ron Round, leader of Knowsley Council and portfolio holder for employment and skills for the city region cabinet said: “This is great news as these are quality jobs with training and development that will make a difference to a lot of people.”
