Liverpool HR firm changes direction

A HUMAN resources consultancy which saw its momentum stall as it sought to change direction has got back up to speed, thanks to help from Business Link.

Courtney Consultancy was launched in 2007 but changing economic conditions demanded a change in its strategy.

Founder Elaine Courtney, a former recruitment consultant, said: “I had originally set up the company as a recruitment service and managed to secure a contract with Blue Orchid, a local business start-up organisation.

“But, a few months later, a family bereavement led me to take some time out. When I started to get things moving again, the recession had taken hold and the recruitment sector was really suffering. I started to think about taking the business in another direction, but I needed to focus my ideas.”

A meeting with Business Link Northwest adviser, Alan Dinwoodie, enabled her to get a clear idea of her business’s strengths.

She said: “It was only when I started talking everything through with Alan that I started to see how I could package that as four distinct service offerings.

“I could see the real potential for filling a gap in the market and leveraging my recruitment experience to offer a one-stop-shop out-sourced HR solution.”
