FIRMS in the region’s £10bn chemicals sector are being urged to enter this year’s Chemicals Northwest awards.
The organisation will hold its second annual awards ceremony in Manchester in May, and is now calling for the region’s top chemicals companies to enter the event and show off their achievements.
Last year’s winners included Widnes-based Pentagon Chemicals, which was named company of the year. Lubricant maker RS Clare, of Liverpool, won the small and medium enterprise title.
Other categories at this year’s awards recognise innovation, environmental technology and international trade.
Chemicals Northwest chief executive Dr Jenny Clucas said: “The chemical sector contributes a staggering £10bn to the North West economy.
“This industry deserves recognition and it is great to be able to highlight the expertise that we have here in our region.
“We realise that our member companies do not set out to win awards, but adopt new practices and improvements to drive their business forward.
“However, this work should be acknowledged – particularly given the trading conditions over the last year.”
