BUSINESS leaders have welcomed an extra daily flight on KLM’s Liverpool-Amsterdam route.
The Dutch carrier’s fourth daily link, from May 10, will add 33% capacity to the route which launched last March.
As well as the Amsterdam link, the route feeds in to more than 800 global routes operated by KLM and its Skyteam partners, such as Shanghai, Johannesburg and Mexico.
And better timings will improve connectivity, says KLM.
From May 10, the new schedule sees departures from Liverpool JLA at 6.50am, 10.25am, 2pm and 5.20pm. The last flight from Amsterdam to Liverpool departs at 8.45pm.
Neil Pakey, deputy chief executive of JLA owner Peel Airports, said: “This gives the region’s business community more flexibility and the added convenience of starting long- haul journeys to an even greater choice of worldwide destinations.”
Henri Hourcade, Air France KLM UK and Ireland general manager, added: “Our new summer schedule is a tangible symbol of the strength of our operations out of Merseyside.” The extra frequency will support Liverpool’s presence at the six month-long Shanghai World Expo, and Mike Taylor, of Liverpool Vision, said: “This very welcome news will be warmly received by all our Expo sponsors.”
