Cllr Flo Clucas named Liverpool Women’s International Centre for Economic Development president

LIVERPOOL’S Women’s International Centre for Economic Development (Wiced) marked International Women’s Day today by appointing Cllr Flo Clucas as its first president.

Cllr Clucas said: “Women provide such a rich but as yet an untapped source of creativity, innovation and enterprise which will help drive forward the economy of Liverpool and the rest of the UK.

“I have always championed women's participation in social, economic and political life, and I am delighted to take this official role in such aŠ progressive organisation.”

The £5m Wiced facility, created by women’s enterprise agency Train 2000, will open in the Baltic Triangle area of the city later this year, and will house an international research hub along with a range of enterprise support services, including space for up to 80 business units, to help women start and grow their businesses.

It is expected to help 3,000 women set up businesses in the next 10 years, creating 4,500 new jobs.
