Cheshire green technology firm Energetix launches new boiler system

CHESHIRE group Energetix is launching an own-brand boiler onto the UK market as it bids to capitalise on rising demand for green technology.

The Capenhurst group was founded to develop products and take them to market, and has already signed development deals with major energy companies.

But it is now launching its first boiler under its own brand to get it to the UK market more quickly.

The Kingston “micro-CHP boiler” uses Genlex technology developed by Energetix to generate electricity while it operates, potentially saving customers hundreds of pounds a year.

Finance director Rick Smith told LDP Business: “We are still working with boiler manufacturers Stiebel Eltron and Dalderop. However, they’re going at their pace, not our pace.

“We have developed Kingston wholly ourselves. We are now in discussions with a major European white goods manufacturer about production, and with utilities about selling it.”

AIM-listed Energetix is still loss-making as it funds product development. Yesterday it posted a pre-tax loss of £4m for 2009, up from £1.7m in 2008, while turnover rose from £32,000 to £255,000.

Energetix’s Pnu Power system uses compressed air-powered turbines to protect electrical installations from power cuts.

VPhase, whose technology helps householders save power by keeping the voltage in their homes at a steady level, has been spun out as a separate company. It yesterday posted a pre-tax loss of £981,000.
