HELLO, campers – Southport-based holiday camp chain Pontin’s is breaking out the Bucks Fizz.
Pontin’s said its recent strong performance was down to the high-class entertainment it provides campers – including shows from The Original Bucks Fizz.
Bucks Fizz, of course, shot to fame at the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest, singing Making Your Mind Up in a performance that saw Cheryl Baker’s, below, and Jay Aston’s skirts torn off. Now Cheryl and Jay appeared in the act that rocked Pontin’s – that’s The Original Bucks Fizz. But, though they were originally in Bucks Fizz, they weren’t performing with Bucks Fizz.
Bucks Fizz still tours with original Bucks Fizz member Bobby G – who is not in The Original Bucks Fizz. Fellow original Bucks Fizz member Mike Nolan, however, is in The Original Bucks Fizz.
Neither of the above are related to David Van Day’s Bucks Fizz Show, which was another Bucks Fizz altogether.
Trading Gossip is off to a darkened room with a glass of Champagne and orange juice to work out exactly what should go into a Bucks Fizz.
WELL done to Ben Pinnington, director of Wirral PR firm Artemis, for a valiant attempt to get an international profile for his business.
Last week, Ben organised a major press event on behalf of key client, the Cammell Laird shipyard, which saw reporters from across Europe descend on Birkenhead.
They were there to mark the completion of the contract for the ship, Nexans Skagerrak.
While chatting to one foreign hackette, he explained the company’s name came from the Greek for Diana the Huntress.
“It’s because we go hunting for headlines,” he added.
