Premier Inn’s £12m investment in Liverpool One hotel

LIVERPOOL One is to feature another new hotel, after a deal between developer Grosvenor and the Premier Inn chain.

Premier, part of the Whitbread group, is proposing to build a £12m 186-room development in Hanover Street, on the fringe of the £1bn retail complex.

The development will create 50 new jobs in what is seen as a further commitment by Premier to the Liverpool region.

Premier, seen as one of the UK’s largest and fastest-growing hotel operators, said the new development will take its total number of bedrooms in the city centre to more than 500, complementing existing hotels in Vernon Street and at the Albert Dock.

John Bates, head of acquisitions for Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants, said: “Premier Inn is the most successful budget hotel operator in the UK today, and we want to ensure that ongoing success by investing in key locations – Liverpool is one of these.

“By adding a new hotel at Liverpool One, we can be part of this exciting regeneration story and ensure that, as well as having hotels in the business centre (Vernon Street) and entertainment centre (Albert Dock), we will now also have one in the heart of the city’s retail centre.”
