Scott Wilson wins the Queen’s Award for International Trade 2010

CIVIL engineering firm Scott Wilson has been awarded the Queen’s Award for International Trade 2010.

The company has an office in Liverpool and employs around more than 200 people across the North West.

The award recognises the firm’s “exceptional” geographic reach and a skilled workforce around the world which has led to international revenue growth more than doubling over the last six years.

Since the early 1920s, it has supported and serviced Commonwealth countries by working closely with the UK government.

Its founding partners were renowned for expertise in civil engineering projects, one being the construction of the concrete caissons which formed the Mulberry Harbour to support the D-Day landings.

Scott Wilson staff in the Liverpool office have worked on projects including Ramez Shopping Centre and Diyaar Al Muharraq Island, Bahrain; Al Shahama Palace, Abu Dhabi; Qatar’s Transportation Master Plan and Podgorica Eastern Bypass, Montenegro.

Chief executive Hugh Blackwood said:

“It is testimony to the talent and dedication of our staff around the world.

“In 2006, we made a conscious decision to grow, build and strengthen our unified international business and each year we continue to increase the proportion of our revenue earned outside the UK.”
