Former transport minister Steven Norris to bring Jubilee to Liverpool Daily Post's Regional Business Awards

FORMER Conservative Party vice-chairman Steven Norris is the keynote speaker at next month’s Regional Business Awards.

The LDP Business event will bring together 500 businesspeople from across the region to celebrate their achievements in the last year.

Liverpool-born Mr Norris is well-placed to discuss the role of business in driving the regional and national economy forward in the post-election landscape.

He spent 13 years in Parliament and served for four years as Minister for Transport in London, where he was responsible for the Jubilee Line extension.

He stood down from Parliament to pursue business interests, becoming director general of the Road Haulage Association until he unsuccessfully ran for Mayor of London in 2000 and 2004.

He is now a director of a number of quoted and private companies, including ITIS Holdings and Survey Inspection Systems.

He advises a number of blue-chip clients on public affairs issues with special emphasis on transport and the built environment.
