Liverpool attracts more sponsors for World Expo presence

LIVERPOOL’S presence at the World Expo in Shanghai has received a £24,000 boost with three more firms signing up as silver sponsors.

Architect practices BDP and Brock Carmichael and Liverpool PR agency Paver Smith are the latest firms to sign up. BDP designed the Liverpool Pavilion while Paver Smith is running the PR operation for the city at the six-month event.

Mike Taylor, director of investment and enterprise at Liverpool Vision, said: “Sponsorship of the pavilion has come from such a diverse range of sectors, from media and PR services, to architecture and design, education services and everything in between. We are delighted that such key players in each sector have come on board.”

The opening week of the Expo attracted disappointing crowds, with a little more than 1m people visiting in the first seven days. Organisers had forecast 70m people would visit the 26-week event, while Liverpool were hoping to get in front of about 1% of the total audience.
