But he said it made no sense to create new retail space when up to 13% of space in St John’s and 15% of Clayton Square is empty, compared with a group-wide average of 5.9% void space.
Mr Larmuth added: “We do have to be clear about what is happening to the retail market. Our focus is filling the empty units.”
