MIKE NEWTON is mixing business with pleasure after his recent Le Mans success.
The chief executive of Daresbury-based CCTV specialist AD Group races as a hobby and, together with his co-drivers, won the latest stage of the Le Mans Series six-hour Algarve 1,000km night-time endurance race.
The win in their Lola HPD racecar puts the team in pole position for the Le Mans Prototype 2 title after second and third place finishes in the opening two rounds.
Mike said: “We came here leading the championship by just one point, but this win now places us in a very strong position for the series.”
Pauline Norstrom, AD motorsport and marketing director, added: “The win, which was played out in front of AD Group’s security industry guests, was down to excellent race strategy from the team and the reliability of the new HPD engine package.”
AD Group provides in-car video images which are linked to telemetry data to enable drivers to improve their performance.
