LIVERPOOL Design Festival will return in November to celebrate the city’s creative culture.
The 10-day contemporary design event aims to showcase the region’s creative industries while also bringing some of the sector’s leading lights to Liverpool.
Organisers say the festival is “a celebration of contemporary design in a city famed for its love of fashion”.
It will include exhibitions, seminars and a “finishing school” to teach new designers about marketing and merchandising.
The second annual festival, which starts on November 18, will also see the launch of the Design Stars 2010 competition for schoolchildren.
The centrepiece of the festival will be the Design Show on Saturday, November 20 and Sunday, November 21. The St George’s Hall event, which is open to the public, will feature displays from some 60 designers and makers of furniture, fashion, ceramics, accessories, lighting, jewellery and decorative art.
Merseyside designers will include Rebecca Gouldson, who creates etched metal wall art at her Liverpool studio.
