KLM plane at Liverpool Airport
DUTCH airline KLM has revealed it has doubled passenger numbers on its daily route between Liverpool John Lennon airport and Schiphol – and said it will maintain its four daily flights on the service throughout the traditionally quieter winter period.
The national carrier said its feeder link to its main Dutch hub had generated significant growth, with double the number of passengers flying the route since its launch in March, 2009.
Growing passenger figures gave KLM the confidence to increase its original three daily flights to four in May this year.
The route is popular as it offers access to more than 100 worldwide destinations on KLM’s intercontinental network via Schiphol and access to more than 650 global destinations through KLM’s Skyteam network with its partner airlines.
It confirmed that the Liverpool operation has developed into one of KLM’s most successful departure points on its extensive 14-strong UK network, which includes Aberdeen, Birmingham, Glasgow, London Heathrow, Manchester and Newcastle.
