NWDA CEO Steven Broomhead announces early retirement at AGM meeting

REGENERATION boss Steven Broomhead announced his early retirement from the Northwest Development Agency at the organisation’s AGM.

Despite his departure from the agency, Mr Broomhead said yesterday he would not be retiring from the world of business.

He said: “I’m not reaching for my pipe and slippers.

“I’ve taken the decision to retire after 7½ years, the main reason being it has been a very demanding job.

“I’ve got to sort out my work-life balance.

“I want to assess my options carefully, I want to remain enterprising and entrepreneurial.”

Standing down as the CEO of the soon to be defunct quango, Mr Broomhead said the agency was now in talks with Whitehall to organise a successor to oversee the closure of the NWDA and the transfer of remaining staff.

Mr Broomhead said: “At the moment, there’s a conversation going on with the Government about a successor for me.”

He added: “It’s important a successor is quickly appointed.”
