Plant hire group Speedy Hire in £2.5m Cairo supply deal

Speedy Hire

SPEEDY Hire, the Newton-le- Willows-based plant hire group, has provided £2.5m-worth of equipment for a £2bn development in Egypt.

The deal is part of Speedy’s drive to strengthen links with key partner Carillion, whose joint venture Al-Futtaim Carillion is developing the Cairo Festival City scheme.

The development includes retail outlets, office space, housing, restaurants, entertainment and a school, creating more than 50,000 office jobs and housing for 13,000.

Speedy has a nine-strong team in Cairo – dealing with asset management, a bar- coded tool distribution system, training, and health and safety advice – which will grow to 40 personnel.

Mike McGrath, Speedy’s international asset services managing director, said: “We support our customers in delivering major overseas projects and facilities management contracts by providing a managed site support service, which combines our expertise in equipment hire with asset management, infrastructure and logistics services.”
