Better late than never: Tech-X picks up top business award

JONATHAN SMITH, associate scientific researcher of Daresbury-based Tech-X UK, recently popped into the Daily Post’s office to receive a business award that he was unable to pick up at this year’s Regional Business Awards.

Tech-X had been named as the Liverpool John Moores University Science and Technology Business of the Year Award, but nobody from the company was able to attend on the night due to business commitments in other parts of the country.

Tech-X UK won the award for its work in major scientific projects around the world. The firm, located at Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus near Runcorn, writes software used to computer model the behaviour of sub-atomic particles in collider and fusion experiments. As such, it is making a major contribution to understanding some of the most complex scientific issues of the day.

FOR a full interview with Mr Smith about the work of Tech-X, see the next edition of the LDP Business Magazine, published inside the Daily Post this Thursday.
