Merseyrail franchise operator Serco on target to deliver revenue growth

INTERNATIONAL services provider Serco today said it is on track to deliver on its financial forecasts for 2010.

A trading update from June 30 said it has achieved a strong performance, “driven by high levels of operational delivery, continued organic growth and good free cash flow. Our financial position remains strong”.

The group, which controls the Merseyrail franchise in a 50-50 joint venture with Dutch rail company Abellio, said it had an order book of £16.7bn at the half year and “significant opportunities of £28bn across the UK and internationally”.

Since then it has been awarded £2.3bn of contracts, bringing the year to date to £4.5bn.

It said it expects to achieve strong organic revenue growth for the current year to about £5bn.

Chief executive Christopher Hyman said: “Our broad range and deep skills in service transformation enable us to support governments around the world as they reform public services, address deficits and improve their national infrastructure.”
