Kirkby’s Total Glass invests in new equipment to keep pace with demand

Frank Deary, managing director of Total Glass and Total Group in Knowsley Business Park.

KNOWSLEY-BASED Total Glass has invested £440,000 in new equipment to match expansion in 2011.

The PVC-U window and door frames manufacturer has taken delivery of Emmegi (UK) and Dubus machines.

Emmegi’s units will produce the firm’s award-winning high-security aluminium communal entrance door, popular with housing associations and social housing providers and which recently clinched the title of product/innovation of the year at the 2010 Builder & Engineer Awards.

Total Group managing director Frank Deary said: “This investment has been triggered by on-going product development across our aluminium operations, which has been very much led by the communal door and additions to this range.”

He added: “On the PVC-U side, the Dubus centre will further improve our production output and its arrival coincides with confirmation of several large social housing contracts. This gives us a flying start for 2011.”

The machinery will add an extra 500 windows a week.
