Rag and bone men return to streets of Liverpool

LIVERPOOL businesswoman Natalie Reeves is reviving the old tradition of the rag and bone man on the streets of the city.

Ms Reeves, 27, is a director of the North West Electronics Recycling Centre (NWERC) and North West Textiles Recycling Centre (NWTRC) in Old Swan.

NWTRC recycles mostly textile goods including clothes, hats, shoes and bedding.

Ms Reeves will send vans around Old Swan and Tuebrook with drivers dressed in traditional costumes and a Tannoy playing “Any Old Iron”.

She said: “We want to bring an old tradition back to Liverpool – give people a little taste of history.

“We hope it will get people interested in recycling.”
