Kays Medical to double after purchase of Scottish firm

Ben Ludzker, managing director of Kays Medical

LIVERPOOL-BASED Kays Medical has acquired an Aberdeen firm in a deal that will see it double in size.

The medical supplies and training firm expects turnover to grow to £8m, following its purchase of DM Wood Medical for an undisclosed sum. The Scottish firm is a major supplier to the North Sea oil and gas industry and its owner, David Wood, will remain in Aberdeen as operations director.

Kays Medical managing director Ben Ludzker said: “Over the past 30 years, DM Wood Medical has built a solid reputation for outstanding customer service and supplying high quality first aid medical supplies.

“We look forward to strengthening this by working alongside David to offer the very latest in biohazard control and emergency chemical decontamination products and training.”

It is the second acquisition for Mr Ludzker, son of founders David and Joyce, after he led the purchase of Response UK in 2008.

He is keen to grow the company through acquisition and strategic partnerships, and has described it as “one of our focus points”.

Kays holds a number of major national contracts supplying products and training to a wide variety of sectors such as leisure, food, manufacturing, retail as well as GP surgeries, schools and prisons.
