KNOWSLEY-BASED Environmental Waste Controls (EWC) continued to turn muck into brass in 2010, as the company prepared for expansion in the coming months.
The firm operates household waste recycling sites for local authorities, waste contract management for private sector clients and undertakes waste transport and disposal.
Pre-tax profits increased £1.98m to £2.10m in the year to August, 2010. That was despite a 4% fall in sales, to £23.8m.
It will soon double the size of its operation at Knowsley Business Park, which will add 10 new jobs to the 50-strong workforce.
The waste management company is relocating its engineering division to a new site in Kitling Road and doubling the size of its materials recycling facility. It is also introducing an auction site for the public to buy recycled and reusable goods.
EWC employs 400 people across the UK, operating 32 household waste disposal sites for six councils including Warrington, south London and Leicestershire.
