Liverpool JMU research for Seacombe tourism attraction Spaceport recognised

LIVERPOOL John Moores University’s Astrophysics Research Institute has been named as one of five exemplars of excellent research, in a pilot study by the Higher Education Funding Council for England.

The Institute helped set up and support Merseytravel’s Seacombe tourism attraction, Spaceport, which boasts more than 100,000 visitors a year, by providing astronomical research and knowledge aimed at a family audience.

Liverpool JMU vice chancellor Prof Michael Brown said: “Our fellow institutions in this pilot are senior research players, and we were pleased to have been able to demonstrate the quality and impact of our research.”
