Floating Concepts to develop Glasgow leisure village

CHESHIRE-BASED Floating Concepts has been chosen as the preferred bidder to develop a £30m floating leisure village in Glasgow.

The firm’s chief executive, David Beard, is also co-owner of Liverpool Marina and, along with the Marina’s operations director Dave Murray, has a 20% stake in the Liverpool Boat Show.

The Glasgow plans are to develop the former Canting Basin docks on the south side of the River Clyde. It could create up to 450 jobs and transform the basin into a floating community comprising shops, offices, houses, restaurants, a marina and a roof-top concert arena.

Building could start in the second quarter of 2012.
