Rumford aims for full occupancy at Liverpool’s 20 Chapel Street

LIVERPOOL’S 20 Chapel Street is “actively pursuing” two possible 39,000 sq ft lettings with two major banks that would bring the prestige development closer to full occupation.

In an interview with LDP Business, Mike Stares, director of the building’s owner, Rumford Investments, said he was hopeful it would be fully let by the end of this year.

“We have four floors remaining with floorplates of 13,000 sq ft which is about one-third of the total space in the building,” he said.

“There are requirements out there and we are targeting full occupation by the end of the year.

“There is a bank looking for 26,000 sq ft and another looking for 13,000 sq ft and we are actively pursuing them both.”

The scheme was completed in 2006 and since then has secured lettings with a host of financial and professional services firms, including Barclays, Charles Stanley, Broadway Malyan, Panmure Gordon, Ernst and Young and Finch.

Last year, Liverpool Football Club also agreed to take 30,000 sq ft of space across three floors.

Mr Stares added: “I like to think we have a tenant line-up here that is as good as you will find anywhere else in the city.

“What we have left are the biggest single floorplates in the building. We will be flexible and we are here to do deals.”
