LIVERPOOL agency Uniform is towering over its London rivals after winning contracts with corporate giants Unilever and Carlsberg.
The brand communication agency is working on “significant confidential projects” for Unilever’s London HQ to help the consumer products giant reach its target of doubling in size in 10 years.
And it is working with Carlsberg’s Denmark base on other projects – including one to give a new look to the Carlsberg lounge at Anfield.
Uniform also worked on a communication campaign for The Shard in London, which will be Europe’s tallest building once complete.
It won work against competition from London-based agencies to carry out design work for the Natural History Museum and the Museum of London, and recently won work with the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cleveland
And it is working on an ongoing regeneration project that is transforming the centre of the Qatari capital Doha.
Uniform’s Associate Director Scott McCubbin said: “It’s incredible that a Liverpool-based operation that has never opened a Liverpool office is getting these jobs.”
Managing Director Nick Howe added: “We’ve had to work hard for these jobs, They haven’t come to us on a silver platter.”
Mr Howe said Uniform first started working with Unilever 18 months ago. Today it is working with Unilever’s 6,000-strong global research and development team, as well as with the team behind its Sunsilk hair care brand.
“The R&D team works across 40-odd countries,” he said.
“Some of the stuff we’ve been doing with them in terms of communication campaigns is really interesting, because of the cultural diversity of the people we need to connect with.
“Unilever’s strategic thinking is that it wants to develop its ‘billion-dollar brands’, of which Sunsilk is one.”
Mr McCubbin said: “The great thing about Carlsberg is that we’re working though its head office in Denmark. They’re one of the biggest brewers in the world, and they have 43,000 staff. It’s fantastic that we’re working at that level.
“They’re quite open to working with quality agencies, whether they’re in Denmark or London or Liverpool.
“Another big thing for us is that we won work for the Natural History Museum and the Museum of London up against London agencies. That got a fair amount of coverage in the design press. They were big, high-profile annual report projects.”
Uniform worked on the pre-launch campaign to promote plans for The Shard, which is now under construction next to London Bridge Station. The promotional film it created was shown all over the world on the BBC and CNN.
As LDP Business reported last week, the agency has also recruited children’s television legend Johnny Ball to record voiceovers to two promotional videos on its relaunched website.
