Liverpool John Lennon Airport

LIVERPOOL John Lennon airport has maintained its top 10 status in UK airports and moved up to eighth in the league for scheduled passengers.

The latest annual report by independent specialist RDC Aviation into the UK’s airports revealed that JLA achieved a 2.7% increase in total passenger numbers in 2010, to 5,013,940, making it the 10th biggest UK airport by passenger numbers.

This was despite a 9.6% decrease in total UK scheduled domestic traffic to 8.7m passengers and a 2% fall in international traffic from UK regional airports to 41.6m passengers.

In fact, JLA was one of only nine UK airports to show passenger growth.

And its scheduled passenger levels rose 3.3% to 4.99m, enabling the airport to leapfrog Glasgow International into eighth spot.

Liverpool JLA offers more than 70 destinations fed by airlines such as Easyjet, Ryanair, KLM, Wizz Air, Eastern Airways and Flybe. Irish carrier Ryanair grew its business from Liverpool by 9% during the year.
