RYANAIR’S first Greek routes from Liverpool began yesterday, boosted by record ticket sales.
The biggest carrier by passenger numbers at Liverpool John Lennon airport launched its flight to the holiday island of Kos, followed by a Rhodes service from today. Flights to Lodz, in Poland, resume again at the weekend.
Ryanair’s Maria Macken said the Greek routes went on sale just over two months ago and sales for the Kos link hit record levels, indicating the holiday hot spot could be one of their most popular summer routes this year.
Robin Tudor, head of PR for JLA owner Peel Airports, said: “The region’s holidaymakers have even more great opportunities to get away to more reliable hot weather, and there are few better places for this than the island of Kos.”
Both Greek destinations are part of the Dodecanese group of islands, located in the Aegean Sea.
Both Greek flights operate twice a week, Kos on Wednesdays and Sundays, and Rhodes each Thursday and Monday.
