Liverpool John Lennon airport set to handle 190,000 passengers over extended holiday period

THE forthcoming Bank Holiday weekend promises to be busier than usual for Liverpool John Lennon airport.

It expects to handle about 190,000 passengers over an 11- day period which covers the extended Easter and May Day period of four Bank holidays, including the Royal Wedding. This year, JLA will feature direct flights to more than 80 destinations across 22 countries with airlines such as Easyjet, Ryanair, Flybe, Wizz Air and Eastern Airways.

KLM’s daily link with Amsterdam Schiphol also offers onward connections to hundreds of destinations.

New services recently launched at the airport include links with Brussels, Gibraltar, Toulon, Kos and Rhodes, with flights to Tallinn in Estonia commencing during the Easter break.

Peel Airports head of PR, Robin Tudor, said: “With some schools on holiday for the past two weeks and now many more off for the next two weeks, we’ll have had four weeks of higher than usual volumes of passengers passing through JLA by the beginning of next month. This is always the first busiest period of the year for us, and, while many will be at home enjoying The Royal Wedding, it looks like others will be taking advantage of the extra holiday and celebrating the occasion overseas.”
