ANGRY workers at a trailer company have staged a second walk-out – and say they will continue to strike until company bosses agree to meet them for talks over pay.
Employees at Ifor Williams Trailers’ Deeside plant downed tools for the second time in a week yesterday, in a row over an “unacceptable” pay rise offer and working conditions. About 40 employees staged a protest with banners from 6am until 6pm and are already planning another picket next week.
Tony Brady, Unite the union’s regional representative, said: “The company have so far refused to talk to us or meet with us at all, and it is not good enough.
“We will continue to strike indefinitely, until we get a result.”
The firm has offered a 1.5% increase in basic pay, in what workers claim is the first pay rise offer they have had in four years.
A spokesman for Ifor Williams said: “We respect the right to take action, and we are always open to talk in a bid to resolve the situation.”
