BUS and trains group Stagecoach reported progress in all its sectors in a trading update today.
It said: “The overall profitability of the group has remained strong, with good ongoing cost control and all divisions showing revenue growth in the current year.”
In a meeting with analysts it revealed like-for-like revenue growth of 2.2% in its UK bus division for the 48 weeks to April 3.
UK rail improved its like-for-like revenue growth by 6% in the same period, while its North American operations saw an 8.3% increase in the 11 months to March 31.
Stagecoach holds a 49% stake in Virgin Rail Group, which operates the Liverpool Lime Street to London Euston link, and reported a 12.1% improvement in its like-for-like revenues over the 48 weeks to April 3.
Today’s statement added: “Overall current trading remains good and we believe the prospects for the group remain positive.”
