CIVIC leaders in Liverpool have thanked businesses who supported last month’s Spring on the Waterfront festival.
The event was created by Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Vision after the planned Liverpool Boat Show was cancelled.
More than 40 organisations from the city’s private sector and marine community supported the event, including the Albert Dock Company, British Waterways and Neptune Developments.
The festival proved a hit for the Albert Dock, with footfall figures for the ten-day festival up 48% on the same period last year.
Council leader, Cllr Joe Anderson, said: “When the Boat Show was cancelled, we were facing a wash out during these two important weekends for the visitor economy, but through sheer determination and huge cooperation between public agencies and private businesses, a quality programme was created.
“I’d like to thank the public for backing the city and turning out in their thousands.”
