FOOTBALL fans at Kirkby’s Total Glass put team allegiance to one side for a fund-raiser in honour of former managing director Paul Ierston, 40, who succumbed to cancer earlier this year.
Managing director and lifelong Liverpool fan Frank Deary wore Everton colours, while his operations director and fanatical Evertonian, David Ogilvie, donned red as their “penance” in a charity “Red and Blue day” organised by Michaela Ogilvie for staff which realised more than £1,300 for The Walton Centre which treated Mr Ierston.
Money donated by the PVC-U window and door fabricator will help improve neurological research, staff training and patient welfare at the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery NHS Trust.
Mr Deary said: “Blue was quite difficult to wear, as I’d given the team so much stick over the years, but we called a truce in football for charity and everyone enjoyed a great fun day. The whole team made a tremendous effort for a very worthwhile local cause.”
