Jaguar Land Rover Halewood agency rejects claims of unrest over pay discrepancies

A RECRUITMENT agency supplying staff for Jaguar Land Rover’s Halewood plant has rejected claims of unrest over pay discrepancies.

Nottingham-based Staffline provides 686 staff for a DHL Sales Train operation supplying parts for the Evoque and Freelander 2 production line.

Staffline workers claimed last week that frequent mistakes in their pay packets left them out of pocket, with some needing emergency same day payments to remedy mistakes involving a significant shortfall.

One also claimed they had been warned not to speak to the press or join a union, as the firm did not recognise unions.

But Staffline operations director Andrew Coop insisted: “I could not think of a dafter thing to say. We have 686 people there, and that would just be red rag to a bull.”

He added the company has a written agreement recognising the Usdaw union, and talks with the Unite union on site at Halewood.

He said same day payments were falling, from 38 two weeks ago to 20 last week: “We are confident that will reduce further.”

He also rejected claims such payments were reclaimed the following week as a cash sub. He said: “They are payments, not a sub, so they are not taken back.”

After last week’s claims, Mr Coop said he and DHL representatives walked the production floor at Halewood to reassure their staff and sort out any problems: “We are aware of pay queries, and believe we are on top of the issues and have two named people designated to handle queries.”
