Christian Purslow
THE former managing director of Liverpool FC, Christian Purslow, has invested in the firm behind an online football game
Mr Purslow has also become a director of We R Interactive, which launched I AM PLAYR in May. It is his first investment since leaving Liverpool FC’s board in February.
I AM PLAYR, played through Facebook and its own website, aims to allow people to experience football through the eyes of a professional footballer, on and off the pitch.
The game has already secured sponsorship from companies including Nike, Red Bull and Alfa Romeo, while former England and Arsenal full-back Lee Dixon has contributed script and story ideas. Theo Walcott is among players featured in the game.
Financier Mr Purslow, who spent much of his career in the private equity industry, joined Liverpool FC in June 2009.
In 2010, he voted in favour of selling the club to New England Sports Ventures – angering then owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, who tried to remove him from the board.
