SMALL businesses can recycle commercial waste for free in Southport.
Cemetery Road firm iData Destruction offers the service as part of its commercial recycling business.
Southport Liberal Democrat MP John Pugh cut the ribbon on their new £120,000 recycling machine which is capable of churning through 6,000kg of waste an hour.
The business, owned by George Eland, has been running for three years, but could only recycle paper and some cardboard.
The new system means they can now process polymers, metals, waste electrical and electronic equipment and textiles.
Mr Eland said: “It greatly improves our efficiency.
“Waste is not a very sexy topic to talk about, but if you talk to any small business owner it is an issue – they often don’t know what to do with it.
“They want to get on with what they are doing and waste is often not the highest of priorities.
“We are offering a local solution to a global problem.”
