RBS package funds Abbey Logistics expansion

BOOTLE-BASED Abbey Logistics has secured almost £1m in additional asset finance facilities from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) to fund the acquisition of a Cheshire haulier.

Abbey specialises in the environmentally friendly transportation of bulk food ingredients throughout Europe and operates more than 180 trucks and 230 tanks and trailers across nine UK bases.

The £884,000 of asset finance will fund the takeover of Macclesfield-based RH Stevens, a long- established haulier of bulk powder, including the purchase of 15 used tractor and trailer units, as well as 30 tankers.

Abbey managing director Steve Granite said: “The team at RBS excelled in providing a flexible funding package which will enable us to achieve our growth plans. The recent acquisitions have increased our market presence even further.”
