Mechan Controls in takeover talks

SKELMERSDALE manufacturer Mechan Controls is in negotiations to buy a Yorkshire firm.

Mechan, led by managing director Wilf Boardman, makes electronic safety switches that are used in locations from food factories to the London Eye.

Mechan would not reveal the name of its takeover target, but said it was a certification and calibration company that supplies the gas, electric and water industries and also makes “mining consumables, methane extraction equipment and mining machinery” for the mining industry.

Mechan added: “At this stage the company is bound by confidentiality agreements not to disclose details of the target’s assets, liabilities and turnover, nor the consideration.

“Mechan intend to acquire the entire share capital of the company, with the consideration being funded by Mechan’s existing resources and banking facilities.”
