Liverpool Hope University in LEP study to boost social enterprise

LIVERPOOL Hope University’s Business School has been awarded a research grant to study how Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) can help improve social enterprises.

The funding is from the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE).

Social enterprises are seen as an important part of economic growth policies and the study will lead to a Social Enterprise toolkit guide which will be distributed through the British Chambers of Commerce.

Forty institutions applied for the research grant and Liverpool Hope’s bid, written by Head of the Business School Dr Bob Doherty, was one of three successful applicants.

Steven Broomhead, Professor of Entrepreneurial Education at Hope, said: “It’s an important opportunity to profile the importance of social enterprise in the economy.

“We’re looking for sustainable economic growth and community renewal, especially in disadvantaged communities. This research will show models of best practice.”
