Kirkby TV shopping channel QVC helps find work for 10 youngsters

TEN young people have been offered jobs at QVC, in Knowsley, after completing a Prince’s Trust scheme.

The Get into Logistics and Contact Centres course is open to 16-to-25-year-olds who are unemployed, have struggled at school, have been in care, or have been in trouble with the law.

Gareth Lynch, 20, from Knowsley, had been unemployed before taking the four-week course at QVC’s customer operations centre, in Knowsley.

He said: “I applied for 300 jobs in the summer but didn’t hear anything back.

“The course was amazing and has really given me the confidence boost I needed,” said Gareth, who was offered a job working in QVC’s warehouse.

Frank Robinson, QVC UK human resources director, said: “We were delighted to be able to offer all 10 candidates employment, and I hope this has given them an opportunity they may not ordinarily have had.”

Jackie Tyler, North West Prince’s Trust director added: “We are extremely grateful to QVC for helping to change the lives of these young people for good.”
