Halewood Evoque named Scottish writers’ car of the year

HALEWOOD’S Range Rover Evoque has been named car of the year by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers, as well as best compact SUV.

Association president Jim Murdoch described the new model as a “wholly deserving” winner of the title.

He added: “Built in Britain and with an iconic badge on its bonnet, our top car of 2011 has wowed everyone who’s driven it.

“With more votes than any previous winner, this car is a runaway success. No surprise, then, that it already has a queue of buyers stretching round the block and beyond.”

Murray Dietsch, Land Rover’s director of engineering programmes, received the Evoque’s award, saying: “Scottish Car of the Year is undoubtedly one of the most important accolades in the industry.”
