Lloyds Bank chief stepping down temporarily due to illness

LLOYDS Banking Group chief executive Antonio Horta-Osorio is stepping down temporarily on medical advice, the bank announced today.

In a short statement the bank said that “following medical advice, Antonio Horta-Osorio is taking a temporary leave of absence from his duties as group chief executive of the bank due to illness.

“Antonio is expected to return to his position before the end of the year.”

The statement said the board was meeting later today to agree interim arrangements during his absence which will be announced in due course.
