Strong North West contribution to Grant Thornton annual results

THE North West office of business and financial adviser Grant Thornton UK contributed almost 10% of the group’s revenues and increased its share of pre-tax profits by 5%, new figures reveal.

Group turnover fell 0.7% to £377m in the year to June 30, and pre-tax profits of £75.2m compared with £77.57m last year.

The company said the profits fall was largely due to a reduction in public sector advisory work, although the average profit per partner increased to £342,000.

Chief executive Scott Barnes said: “Given the continuing difficult economic conditions, Grant Thornton’s performance has been very strong.”

The North West operation, employing 350 staff including the Liverpool office in the Royal Liver Building, generated about £30m in revenues.

North West managing partner David Grundy said: “The profit contribution from the North West has increased this year by 5%, despite tough trading conditions.

“We’re committed to continuing to grow this as we move into 2012, with more new appointments on the horizon.”
