LIVERPOOL John Lennon Airport (JLA) recorded its busiest summer season throughout its history after handling 3.6m passengers between April and October.
August saw more than 580,000 travellers pass through the terminal in the busiest month since the airport was created 78 years ago.
JLA’s owner, Peel Airports, has also received national recognition for its environmental carbon reduction commitments after Environmental Agency figures showed that it is in the top 14% of UK organisations participating in the Carbon Reduction Commitment Scheme, and one of the environmentally “greenest” airports in the UK.
Peel Airports chief executive Craig Richmond said: “This news clearly demonstrates our commitment to growing the business, but not at the expense of environmental impacts.”
